NSE Conference 2025: NETCO MD, Salahuddeen Tahir Bags Fellowship Award

The Managing Director of the NNPC Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO), Salahuddeen Tahir was conferred with a Fellowship honour by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) on Monday, 01 December, 2025,

In a glamorous ceremony held at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, 481 conferees including NETCO’s MD, Salahuddeen Tahir and Manager Engineering, Madaki Yusuf were honoured as fellows of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

In her welcome address, the NSE President, Engr. Magaret Aina Oguntala, the first woman President in the 68-year existence of the society, praised the conferees, while noting that the conferment is on deserved Engineers who have contributed immensely in the growth and development in the Engineering industry.

Engr. Oguntala emphasised the critical role of Engineers in our society, while stressing that the role of engineers in our contemporary society is even more critical in finding lasting solutions to economic and environmental realities.

The NSE President stated, “Indeed the role of Engineers in our society has never been more critical. We are expected to lead the way in finding practical and lasting solutions that address current economic and environment changes. In doing so, we have ensured over the years that our solutions are technically sound, economically viable and socially sustainable.”

NETCO’s Managing Director, Salahuddeen M. Tahir is a COREN-registered Engineer, and a member of several professional bodies, including:

  • The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE)
  • Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)
  • Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society
  • American Association of Petroleum Geologists
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers
  • Energy Institute, UK

Tahir also successfully midwifed all processes leading to the award of the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) Midline Compresssor Project, which increased gas throughput from 1,500 MMscfd to 2,200 MMscfd.

Recall that Engr. Tahir was recently appointed as the new NETCO MD, with his wealth of experience across the engineering landscape and beyond, NETCO is set to become a world class EPCIC, O&M Engineering company.
