NNPC EVP Upstream Visits NETCO: Calls for Quality Delivery and Commitment to Excellence

In a landmark visit to NETCO, the Executive Vice President (EVP) of NNPC Upstream, Engr. Udobong Ntia met with NNPC Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO) management team led by the Managing Director Dr. Tonye Alagba to discuss ongoing projects and reinforce NNPC’s commitment to excellence in the energy sector.

The visit, which included a tour of the UBETA Main Development Project team and a town hall meeting with NETCO staff, provided valuable insights into the company’s direction, goals, and the vital role of teamwork and innovation.

The EVP's visit kicked off with a strategic meeting with NETCO’s management team, where discussions centered around the company’s progress on key projects, as well as plans for future growth.

Both leadership teams exchanged ideas on operational efficiency, safety standards, and the importance of aligning NETCO’s initiatives with NNPC’s overarching objectives in the upstream sector.


Visit to The UBETA Project Team

Immediately after the meeting with NETCO management, Engr. Ntia visited the UBETA Project Team, which is one of NETCO’s flagship project that is crucial to the company’s ongoing success and the continued growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas.

During his visit, the EVP commended the team for their dedication and hard work, he took the time to engage with the project team, acknowledging their commitment to quality and safety while offering encouragement and guidance to further enhance the project’s delivery.

On his part, the Project Manager, Engr. Samuel Jenewari highlighted major flashpoint of the project and gave a brief on the review of comment on the project that is currently on going.

The Project manager further assured that after the successful completion of the Basic Engineering Design and Detailed Engineering Design, the next phase which is the Follow-on Construction stage will be completed and delivered within the stipulated time.

He also expressed gratitude to NETCO management and the project team for the success recorded so far in the project while assuring that all ‘hands will be on deck’ to achieve greater result.


Town Hall Meeting with NETCO Staff

The EVP participated in a town hall meeting with NETCO staff, where his speech focused on the importance of continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence. In his address, the EVP praised the diversity of experience and age within the workforce, emphasizing that such diversity is a key strength that drives innovation and collaboration in NETCO.

He also stressed the need to minimize re-work, stating that it is crucial for the organization to get it right the first time to enhance productivity and reduce unnecessary costs. "High-quality work is non-negotiable," he emphasized. "We must ensure that every task is performed to the highest standards, this directly impacts both cost and efficiency. When we focus on getting things right the first time, we save time, money, and resources."

The EVP further assured the team of his full support for well-structured business cases, reinforcing that the leadership at NNPC is always ready to back initiatives that align with the company’s goals and contribute to its overall success. He encouraged the staff to remain focused and continue to drive progress with the same level of passion and professionalism they have consistently demonstrated.

During an interactive session with the EVP, the Branch Chairman, PENGASSAN NETCO, Engr. Kiyomi Olalekan Spoke on the challenges faced in funding and securing projects for NETCO, he emphasized on the need for support to overcome these obstacles and reiterated NETCO’s capacity to deliver on projects.

The Branch Chairman also expressed hope that the EVP’s role will lead NETCO to better opportunities and support for the workforce.

In a related development, PENGASSAN Chairperson Engr. Afonya Georgewill welcomes the EVP and highlights the company’s vision and potential.

She informed the EVP that the company is not just a prospect but also a new frontier with a lot to offer globally.
