Engr. Kolawole Obadina was recently appointed by NNPC Management as the Executive Director, Operations of NETCODIESTMANN, a joint venture company between NETCO and DIETSMANN set up to provide specialised operation & maintenance services including training for technology transfer in the oil and gas industry.


Engr. Kolawole Obadina was born on July 7, 1957. He attended Abeokuta Grammar School, Abeokuta from 1971 to 1975 for his secondary education. For his tertiary education, he   attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, between 1976 and 1981 where he obtained Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Chemical Engineering, second class - upper division. He also attended the prestigious University of Lagos between 1983 and 1985 for his post graduate Diploma in Metallurgy.


Engr. Obadina started his working career with the Federal Ministry of Industries in 1982 as Industrial Officer II where he was responsible for small scale industries and management consultancy services.


In 1983, he moved to Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, Kogi State, as Chemical Engineer II. Between 1983 and 1991 he rose to the position of Senior Chemical Engineer and Head of Operations, Chemical Water Treatment Plant and was responsible for commissioning and start – up of chemical water treatment plant of the steam generators (Boilers). He was also responsible for supervising the operations of the plant on shift basis, ensuring delivery of demineralized water in the required quantity and quality to the steam boilers and ensuring availability of manpower and materials for continuous operations.  His responsibility also included but not limited to efficient operations of the chemical shop, supervising the shifts – in – charge, arranging for chemicals and other inputs, scheduling equipment maintenance etc.


In 1991, Engr Obadina was employed in NNPC as an Assistant Chief Engineer and sent to the Petroleum Training Institute Effurun Warri, for basic and specific operations programme in engineering and technical services organised by COMERINT. Between 1992 and 1994, Engr. Obadina had his practical on – the - job training in Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company Limited Kaduna in the Engineering and Technical Services Department as a Trainee Process engineer in the Lubes Plant and later in the Production Department as Trainee Chief Operator.


Engr. Kolawole Obadina became Chief Operator in 1994, (Hot Section) Olefins Plant and was involved in the commissioning, start up (CSU) and operation of the 260,000mtpa Olefins Plant on shift basis.


He also functioned as Officer-in-charge, Olefins Plant and later Superintendent (Hot Section) between 1996 and 2003 and was responsible for ensuring feed / products met specification, approving work requests and preparing equipment for maintenance; preparing and supervising plant start up and shutdown activities, ensuring all materials for plant sustainability were available. He also ensured that all safety procedures and rules were adhered to and initiated useful modifications in the Plant for optimum performance.


In 2003 Engr. Obadina became Ag. Deputy Manager for the Olefins Plant and was responsible for the running of the 260,000mtpa ethylene and 80,000mtpa propylene EPCL Olefins Plant and supervising Plant start-up and shut down activities.


Engr. Obadina was seconded to Brass LNG in 2004 and was promoted to the position of a Deputy Manager in 2005. He was also promoted Manager, Plant Operations Brass LNG in 2008 and was the Pioneer Head, Plant Operations in Brass LNG. His schedule of duties was to provide operations input to the project front end engineering design (FEED) at the different design stages and locations thereby ensuring safety, maintainability and efficient operability of the Plant during construction, commissioning and operations. He established the Operating and Maintenance Philosophy for Onshore Facilities of Brass LNG. He also prepared the grounds to ensure that Operations Personnel were trained and ready to take over the plant ready for start-up (RFSU).


He was Head, Plant Operations Brass LNG until his recent appointment as the pioneer Executive Director Operations, NETCODIESTMANN effective June 6, 2016.


Engineer Kolawole Obadina is a widely travelled man and has had the privilege of attending senior management engineering related courses in Nigeria and Overseas. He is happily married to his Wife, Mrs. Olusola Obadina and they both have three children. His hobbies reading, meeting people and playing table tennis at his spare time.
