The Managing Director, NETCO, Engr Siky Aliyu, led the company’s delegates to the 2016 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held at NRG Park, Houston, Texas, United States of America between May 2 and 5 where he showcased the company to some key participating companies at the annual event.

Moving from pavilion-to-pavilion and energized by the current directive from NNPC Top Management on the need for NETCO to identify and partner with world-class companies rendering services similar to that of the company in order to bridge the skills gap, Engr Aliyu met with various companies operating in Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Project Management with a view to forming strategic partnership on project-by-project basis.

Engr. Aliyu and the team held discussions and meetings with prospective Technical partners on the need for NETCO to leverage on capacity building as a route to expand its operations and ultimately increase revenue generated to the NNPC.

Meetings were held with company representatives like KBR, Doris Engineering, Westfield Energy Resources Ltd., Moni Pulo Petroleum Development, Armec Foster Wheeler, Stork, Flour Offshore Solutions and JGC to mention a few. 

At these meetings, the NETCO Managing Director reiterated that with the current move by the NNPC Management aimed at empowering NETCO to build in-country capacity in the oil and gas industry, there is need to get the commitment from the companies so as to partner with them when the projects begin to come.

He emphasized the need for the companies to have strategic partnership with NETCO with a view to working together on a win-win basis. A number of these companies showed great interest to the proposal by Engr, Aliyu and sounded positive towards engaging in strategic partnership on project-by-project basis at the first instance and promised to maintain a link with NETCO with a view to realizing the long term objective.

The NETCO team led by Engr. Siky Aliyu also included Engr. Mustapha Yakubu, NETCO’s Executive Director Operations, and Engr. Moses Gaawa of Business Development and Mr. Wale Odeyale of Public Affairs Department.
