NETCO Assigned Stardeep Water Agbami FPSO
Chevron assigns Stardeep Water Agbami FPSO to NETCO

Following a revised technical services contract between NETCO & STARDEEP WATER PETROLUEM LIMITED (a Chevron company) in October 2007 for the provision of personnel for the Agbami FPSO, the procurement department of NETCO is now executing the project in collaboration with five other subcontractors.

This responsibility stems from the fact that personnel assignment function is much similar with that of supply of goods and services. The decision to assign this project to procurement department by NETCO Management stems from the fact that the provision of procurement support services in terms of material and manpower are similar.

This project with a total value of about USD19 Million is expected to be executed within two years. Thirty percent of the project is for Operation & Maintenance Services while seventy percent is for the provision of Drilling & Well Completion Engineering. The five sub-contractors, Danos & Curole Nigeria Ltd, PPI Nigeria Ltd, Global Petroleum Resources Ltd, NOSCO Oil & Gas Service Ltd, B &V Energy Offshore Services Limited, are working with NETCO on the project.

The project kicked off in November 2007. So far forty-eight personnel have been assigned for different positions working on rotations and have achieved a cumulative of 24, 218 man hours as at May 2008. These personnel have performed beyond the expectation of the Client and consequently NETCO has been receiving Client request for personnel regularly and under short notices. It is hoped that at the peak of the project over seventy personnel will be assigned.

The Agbami Project has significantly contributed to the Nigerian Content development and experience in FPSO Hookup and commissioning. Some NETCO staff who have been involved in the Front End Engineering and Detail Engineering of one FPSO or the other are now opportuned to work as production and maintenance personnel on the Agbami FPSO. This is a major milestone as NETCO wishes to use this opportunity to train their staf f in readiness for more involvement in FPSO operatives either with NPDC or any of the Joint Venture companies in future.

The Department, in collaboration with the sub-contractors, has developed a data base of CVs of well qualified personnel that could be called up under short notice to meet Client personnel requirement. The experience gained from this project would no doubt position NETCO for future execution of similar projects which are now the trend in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
