MDs END OF YEAR MESSAGE
Year 2009 has been a very good year for NETCO. It started on a low key but picked up later in the year with the appointment of three Top Management staff to run the affairs of the company by NNPC. The Executive Director Operations, Engr. S.O Babatunde, the Executive Director Services, Mr. I.B. Timothy and myself were seconded to NETCO in the 3rd Quarter of the year.

So many things happened during the year and they are worth recollecting. The Group Managing Director, NNPC Dr. M.S. Barkindo paid a historic visit to NETCO thus becoming the first GMD to visit the subsidiary since inception in 1989. Dr. Barkindo's visit amplified the commitment of corporate Management at supporting NETCO at all times to ensure that the company fulfills the purpose for which it was established. This year, the former Managing Director, Mr. P.O. Chukwu, was appointed Group Executive Director in charge of Exploration and Production at NNPC corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Another August visitor to NETCO this year was our Group Executive Director, Engineering and Technology, Engr. Faithful Abbiyesuku whose visit was a morale booster for Management and staff of NETCO.

In the area of projects, NETCO started and completed a number of projects with milestone in the course of the year. The projects started and completed include MPN pigging facilities upgrade project phase, Shell AG Solutions, Addax Chevron's Vent Capture Project while projects like MIPS EPCM contract consortium and Total Egina Field Development Front-end Engineering are on-going.

As a focused Engineering company arrived by quality objectives in all its projects, NETCO during the year subjected its operations to surveillance audit for integrated management system of ISO 900:2000 and 14001:2004. The audit carried out by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) is to renew NETCO certification and also place it ahead of others as the company in Nigeria.

As a safety conscious company, NETCO organized fire drills every quarter to sensitize its work-force of the need to operate in a safe and free environment. In the area of community relations, NETCO Management gave approval to sponsor 20 indigenes of Iruland in a 6-month computer training programme in Information Technology. It is our hope that these people shall add value to the society when they finish their course in 2010. In the area of motivating staff to excel in all areas, NETCO Management appreciated all staff that performed excellently on projects during the year. On welfare of its staff, NETCO paid the newly negotiated package for NNPC staff without any delay. The Management also did an upward review of the Conditions of Service for NETCO Direct staff.

As a confirmation of NETCO's role as a foremost engineering company in the Oil and Gas Industry, Management and staff have been receiving commendation from clients on milestone achievements on various projects. I wish to use this forum to commend all staff for a job well done this year and wish them Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
